Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty Leads The Pack of Celebrity-Owned Makeup Brands

Published on September 13, 2023

With celebrity-founded brands becoming a growing presence in the beauty market, there is just one dominating like its the only girl in the world. Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty is holding the top spot for the most-searched-for beauty brand in this realm.

Fenty Beauty, launched by the “Umbrella” singer in 2017, has maintained its relevance since it blasted onto the makeup scene with its signature products for a diverse audience. Even as the competition increases with the likes of Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez and SKKN by Kim Kardashian, Rihanna’s entrepreneurial endeavor is still leading in consumer searches. With over 2.8 million searches, verified by beauty experts at Lilac St., the brand known for its wide shade range is taking the number one slot, and by a long shot. In second place is Rare Beauty, which trails in searches by more than 100,000.

The items most-searched-for from the Black-owned brand are its foundation and multiple lip products.

When Fenty Beauty debuted, it made waves with its priority on diversity, offering foundation shades to match all skin tones, especially darker skin types that were typically marginalized in the beauty industry.

Currently, it has 50 foundation shades, with new launches of matte, dewy, and skin tint versions. Another popular product from the brand are its lip gloss bombs, which were part of its original launch as well, with varying releases, such as a creme and lip plumping formula.

In regards to how those search results translate to dollar signs, Fenty Beauty is also on top in terms of sales. It was revealed in April that the company has amassed an annual revenue of over $582 million, as detailed by Essence.

Miss Fenty herself, who welcomed another son with A$AP Rocky in August, is basking in all her personal and professional success.
