WASHINGTON, D.C. — Students, alumni, family and friends packed Howard University’s campus over the weekend to celebrate its 100th anniversary homecoming.

With the eclectic mix of fashions, musical performances and celebrity sightings — including a marriage proposal! — there was plenty to see on the Yard.

Sisters Debby Lindsey-Taliefero and Lydia Lindsey, both Howard University alumnae, attend the homecoming celebration. Going to Howard is a family tradition for them and their other sisters also attended Howard. Lindsey-Taliefero is a three-time Howard graduate and the first Black woman to earn a doctorate in economics at the university. Lindsey is the first Black woman to receive a doctorate in European history from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
